Yes I have and will never forget it.
Remember:
Never try to swim back to shore against the riptide. This is impossible to accomplish!
Always swim at a 90 degree angle to the riptide or parallel to the shore to get out of it quickly.

Yes....in Florida and in Cancun. The one in Cancun scared the crap out of me. I was out 50 feet before I knew it...and under water waaaaay too long for comfort. Having TIME to think about dying is scary.

I haven't been actually caught in one but when you swim in the ocean you will almost always drift no matter how hard the rip is. Make sure you constantly look back at shore to ascertain your location.

in corpus christy i was caught in a rip tide. Was walking in about two feet of water and the tide came, took me out. In about ten seconds I was more than a hundred yards away from shore.

That it is. I believe I was 14 or 15 at the time, and it's definitely my most vivid memory from that age.

No and i hope i never do. Im pretty careful to watch for the red flags and swim near a lifeguard.

No, but I have been caught in windshear in a plane.... very scary!
