I have seen people add pureed fruit to formula to male it more palatable to their kids. 71/2 months is too young for cows milk and from what I understand, a lot of children won't take the formula once they start on foods because it just doesn't taste very good. If she just put a bit in to sweeten it up it's fine and better than putting sugar or some other non-natural flavors into it. If she is feeding the baby their meals through the bottle, that is definitely not good for them. Not only is it a choking hazard, the food can pool behind their new teeth causing cavities and gum problems.

I've never heard of adding anything to a bottle besides cereal, and even then not often. This age is fine to be eating food, though. Most babies start eating baby food between 4-6 mos.
I would think by 7 mos that the baby would need more baby food than you'd be able to put into a bottle. If the baby is not always hungry than this MIGHT be okay, although it does not help baby transition to table food - not that this is an issue for a 7 month old anyway.

At this age no it is not LAZY, and it is very much okay and common to do. I have a 18 month old which is considered failure to thrive from acid reflux issues and the only way to get the added caloric intake I was told to do that by the nutritionist... remember though at that age you should always offer a meal of spoon fed baby food and then give the bottle. At that point with my baby I would have done anything to get the calories in him, and still do

Some people choose to do this, most people don't. My daughter has two half sisters from her father, and their mom had a new baby with the stepdad and I saw her feed the baby like that. In my mind, that is just being lazy because you don't want to spoon feed your child. It is the same as when people put cereal in the bottle instead of using a spoon. It is a choking hazard, but that is really the only reason it is unsafe, as well as this can lead to obesity because the kid gets too much food because they eat it too fast.

Well, my mom gave me a bottle that was for baby food, like the hole in the nipple was bigger so the baby can eat baby food out of the bottle. As for what age, most pediatricians advise at 6mos, but i've read in baby magazines that, as soon as your baby can sit up alone and regect food when they're full, then you can start giving them solids, like the gerbers or the cereal.

Actually it is fine at that age. However she should not be putting that stuff in a bottle, it won't come out very well and the baby won't be getting very much from it. At this time depending on the childs weight they can be on cereal and starting fruits and other things. It all depends on the weight of the child.

You aren't supposed to add baby food to bottles because then the baby won't want to eat from a spoon. 7 1/2 months is old enough for baby food but you're really supposed to use a spoon.

Feeding foods and juices to babies start at 6 months old. But solid foods should be mashed or processed so it will be easy to shallow. Your friend's baby is already more than 6 months so what she did is just alright.

Its okay to do that, he's definitely old enough. She needs to be feeding him solids with a spoon as well. Some babies eat a LOT, and very OFTEN, so filling the bottle with something that makes it a little thicker and keeps their little tummies full longer!
