Why is it that the act of killing seems to be overlooked in the interest of protecting peace, freedoms, ways of living, i.e. war, capital punishment, and even in some cases of self defense when we as a society often condemn those who kill for other reasons to death? What is the difference? How do we justification for the act of killing?

I think if an offense is bad enough, then the person should be put to death, and I also know that when it come to protecting myself or my family I will kill if i have to, basic human instinc is to protect ones self and ones family and if killing is the only way to end a threat to that, then I am more than willing to take a life.

For those who say no one has the right to kill another, let me ask you. If you were to have a son or daughter, and you were put in a situation where their life was threatened and it is clear the individual threatening them has no intention of stoping, and your only option is to kill them to prtect your child, what do you do....seeing as you say no one has the right to kill.

I absolutely agree with you on the war part - its an absolute waste for such silly little political battles - have we learned nothing from history. I hate that profit and money is more important than tens of thousands of lives. As for punishment - I think that it can be justified for murderers, although in most cases a severe life inprisonment is more effective as most murderers arent afraid of death and its an easy way out for them.

I go by what God says and He doesn't want others put to death for just any reason. About murder and rape, He says " Put them to death and these things will cease to happen among you" He is right of course. If people seen more people getting the death penalty, less would go out and kill and rape. One of the commandments is "Thou shalt not kill" in the English language. Translated back to the old Hebrew it would rather read, " Thou shalt do no murder ". Murder in Hebrew means to lie in wait or kill someone senselessly for money or other gain or just because...
For me it's not a matter of what gives me a right but who. If someone tries to hurt me or a loved one and I have the means I will kill them. No problem with it. If someone just wants my purse, let them have it instead of making them committ a more treacherous crime of killing me to get it.

What would you have us do with all of the murderers in the world?
What would you do if some came into your home and killed everybody?
Should we ignore these crimes?
Is it right to lock up these criminal's for the rest of their lives while GIVING them better health care and education than the rest of the population can afford?
What if some dude broke into your home and raped your three year old daughter?
Can you just ignore this?

Hey, I think you are on to something there. Only we're in the middle of fighting right now, so it might take a while to catch on.
