Why is it that the act of killing seems to be overlooked in the interest of protecting peace, freedoms, ways of living, i.e. war, capital punishment, and even in some cases of self defense when we as a society often condemn those who kill for other reasons to death? What is the difference? How do we justification for the act of killing?

Self-defense is probably a bad reason but its the only possible way to have the right, because really, there's no right to kill. If its's possible, disabling your attacker is a better way than killing him/her. Not even a judge's/jury's diction can say that a person has the right to be killed because only in the hands of
God lies the right to take away someone's life.

its a societal contact you enter into when you accept the benefits of the government. You agree to abide by the societal laws, i.e. no murder. At times, the society also agrees that capital punishment is just for certain crimes. There are obly ten or so federal crimes that grant capital punishment and many states have abolished and/or placed moratoriums on death sentences.

with regard to war, there are also rules of engagement, constitutional provisions for war, foreign treaties tat agree that war is acceptable at times. the truth of the matter is the winners make the rules. and write the history. so war is not just until it is written into history by the winner.

We don't have the right to kill. People in the war or whatever kills others because they like the power. Though they don't get the meaning of peace. What I think is that we should get rid of guns permanently all becasue all people are doin' is getting rid of more and more people. There is no difference in this. We can't justify for the act of killing. We are all dumb and we love the power ok the gun and the killin'!

Your right end where mine begin.
In attacking me and my home, you have forfeited your right to not be attacked. Therefore, if you come in my home and threaten me and mine, I will kill you or injure you seriously. I don't take that "They have rights, too," crap. They try to kill someone I love, I take advantage of my Second Amendment rights.

Sorry, I can get pretty heated about this. I respect those with other opinions on the matter, it's just that I don't understand why criminals can get less jail time than homeowners that defended themselves from the criminals.

There is no justification for murder unless you are acting in self defense when someone is trying to kill you. The people killed in Iraq, murder. The Palestinians killed by Israel, murder. There is no justification, only excuses.

Better weapons. The other side wants them, and would use them if they had them.
