The Beatles.
It's an imprint from childhood, older siblings kept playing their music.
Plus, it's great music! Great playing, harmonies, songwriting etc.
But in context of the time they were in, they had a huge impact on the culture, on the era. They not only reflected the times they were in, but led the way as well.
They were real innovators when it came to music, technology, songwriting, fasion, politics etc.
No other group has had the kind of influence they had.
The other bands that people mentioned, are great for sure. But some of the great things about the Beatles extended beyond music.

The 12 Girls Band, because there are 12 Chinese girls (all in their 20's) who all come from the best of the best of China to play in this one band. They add their own special mix to several songs including Clocks by Cold Play but they can be seen as fashionably classical. Oh, did I mention that they use ancient Chinese instruments? Listening to them play is a joy, but it is even cooler to watch them play.

3. they have been around for 16 years, and have greatly progressed musically with each of their 7 albums.
4. they don't just remake their previous album, each new one has a new style.
5. The band members are extremely nice, and they love their fans.
6. they have one of, if not, THE most dedicated fanbase ever, called the Despair Faction (and it's lifetime membership)

I went this past summer to a Nickleback concert and one of the bands that preceded them was Hinder and I liked them met them also they were ok.I had never heard of them before the show.I like them because they sing rock kinda like the 80s style and that is a rarity these days.I saw Guns n Roses back in the 80s when they started out also and they are my favorite band of yesterday.

AC/DC great party music.....
Slayer - Aggressive and has Some real meaning in a lot of songs and they have Never made a BAD Album......
Most Old Metal bands..... just Cause they can Kick your Butt....

I'm partial to the rubber band, because it has so many uses...but I can see how a lot of people would say wedding band.

umm. . .ok, but y do you need to know? my favorite band is either AFI or My Chemical Romance, because i think have great music abilities and that they are really good.
