Lack of eye contact, looking off to the left I have heard before. Anything else?

Eye contact is the most important. If they can't look you in the eye while they speak, they are likely lying or at best not telling the truth. Many times when a person lies, they may shift from foot to foot or kind of wring their hands. It is always kind of a movement they usually don't make. A nice tipoff. Quickly changing the subject is another and the grand daddy of them all is accusing you of the same! If you think he is cheating...he will accuse you of cheating!

Studies show that it takes 5 to 7 seconds to formulate a good lie response. So if someone repeats the question, that's a tip-off.
Also, an emotional response that is not within the range of the conversation is another clue...they are trying to convince themselves as much as they are you.
If someone is remembering something, they look up and to their left when trying to retrieve the info from their brain. So looking down OR up to THEIR RIGHT is another clue that the CIA uses when questioning suspects.
Also, leaning backward is a body language tip-off.

General anomalies from regular speech or actions. A person has a regular way of being, set precedents, so once you know that, compare it to the new behaviour.

Also, trust your gut, 90% or something of communication is non-verbal. You can read this easily because you're a visual creature, so normally your "gut" will tell you. It's not so much a conscious thing I don't think.

Lack of eye contact, facial expressions, being jittery, overall body language.

I work with kids, so I'm an expert at catching them. Some adults don't lie well either.

if they keep stalling, if their body language looks uncomfortable, if they can't speak clearly or smoothly, if they lower their voice a lot. and yes, if they have a hard time looking at you....
