Could someone please help me with this experiment?

The question that the teacher is asking is if the image made by the pinhole camera real or virtual?

How do I know if it is real or virtual... could someone explain.

Material we used
two cups tape foil
wax paper pencil straight pin
candle light card I scissors flashlight

Punch a large hole in the bottom of one cup with your pencil. Put a sheet of wax paper between the cups and tape them together.

Cover both cups (except the large hole) with foil. Punch a tiny hole in the bottom of the other cup (including the foil) with a straight pin.

Tape light card Iover the flashlight.

Look through the eyehole

I'm not entirely sure about this, but I'm tempted to go with 'virtual' because it doesn't seem that an actual image has been made (like printed onto film or a paper or what have you) ... so basically, if you move the camera, the image is gone... right?

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I hope that this has been of some use to you...

If you need more help, feel free to let me know, and if you give me more information, I'll try to help... I'm just kind of tired right now so my answers are a bit fuzzy.

Good luck, anyway.

There is absolutely no way you could know, so don't feel bad. That is, there's no way you could know unless you could read and write, had access to the internet and had half a brain. What a whinner. It took me about 10 seconds to find the definition of virtulal image on Wikipedia, so whats your excuse? I am being harsh. Your defeatest attitude is not healthy. Its easy to always be the victim, but you'll never be happy until you take control of your life. I know, too heavy for you, right? Anyway a virtual image is one where the image appears to be in a location that the light does NOT get to (or focus on). FOr instance when you look in a mirror your image looks to be thru the looking glass - if you are a foot in front of the mirror your image "appears" to be a foot behind the mirror, probably in the middle of a wall or something, hence the image looks like its at a place where we know there is no light - virtual, see? Believe in yourself or nobody else will. Believing you can do it is the necessary first step to getting it done. Good luck

So, the question doesn't so much have to do with experiment itself, but rather how you interpret the image you saw. So, you need to define the terms 'real' and 'virtual' and determine which better applies to the image you created.
The point may be simply to get you to understand the ambiguity of what we flippantly refer to as 'real'
