Maybe an "I <3 NY" shirt or cap?
I don't know... there are like a jillion things. Is she obsessed with one animal/thing?
I had a friend that LOVED Tinkerbell and she hearted pigs so what my friend and I did was we decided to throw her a party and then, for our gifts, I gave her a huge gift bag full of pig stuff (i.e Pig bubblemaker, piggy bank, stuffed pig, Fur-real pig, pig backpack, there are tons of things.) and my friend pu together almost the same thing but for tinkerbell.
Well, if she hearts boxers, why not do the same? Run to Target and find stuff (Boxer notecards, boxer poster, boxer bag, or as a joke get her boxer shorts =D). It may suprise you, but I found everything I needed at Target. You can try too.
Do the same thing with:
Dance- shoes, costume, sweatbands, jewlery box, pretty hair stuff, posters, or maybe even get a pic of her dancing and blow it up to poster-size
girlygirl- make a prettyinpink bag
Its so much fun to have the best gift there, isnt it?

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:
Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!
The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.
Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.
Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

One good thing you could do is buy her a gift card to Forever 21. It's a really cute store, with tons of great clothes. DO NOT, under any circumstances, actually buy her anything, because she will tend to be picky, and would also like to show a card to her friends. She also won't like people buying clothes for her. Starbucks cards, movie gift cards, and itunes cards are also great bets. When in doubt, think of the mall! I hope this answers your question.

Get her a ZUNE, they are microsofts version of an iPod, and the cost as much as the new iPod, but they have 10x the space, oh and they can do abunch of cool stuff, they could hold pictures of boxer, and they come in pink. and she could put all of her dance music on it.

My aunt got me a gift certificate to a hair salon, that was a good gift. Most teenage girls like to go and have their hair done, but not too many people buy other people those things.

Gift certificate for a pedicure at a local salon - only costs about $20. They will paint her toenails and massage her legs...she's probably never had one so this will be a great gift.

if you want to spend alot and she doesnt have dance lessons then maybe that?

maybe you can make her a shirt that's stylish and get one small enough for her boxer dog too!
OR
you can order a shirt for her that says "I <3 my [Picture of dog]"
and then one for her dog that says "I <3 my [picture of your friend]"
Or maybe a shirt that says I <3 NY, since she loves new york.
if you wanna play it safe, lotion rfom bath&body is fine. get a scent you know she'll like. and make it a set... [ex: lotion, foam soap, hand wipes...]
Here're two links for that shirt idea if yuo decide to go with it:

http://www.cafepress.com/
i hope i helped at least a little.
