Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two and family would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

Not knowing the physical and mental health of your grandmother, I can only offer some limited advice.

(1) If her diet is not restricted, take her some samplings of her favorite foods.

(2) Check on the status of her clothing. Are they fresh and clean or do some items need replaced.

(3) Her favorite lotions, skin products, or foot care products.

(4) A scrapbook of photos from when she was very young, her growing up and marrying, her children and of course grandchildren. In essence her life story. You could even tell it to her yourself accompanied by the photos and other memorabilia. Perhaps if her vision is good, download some photos onto a dvd.

(5) Talk to her about her history for your future family memoirs. We often forget to ask about a loved ones life until they have gone, and of course it is too late.

(6) Bear in mind that nursing homes are not always as good at caring for a loved one as they might be, and it is very important to make yourself seen often, in so doing you ensure that your loved one is getting the care that she needs on a very regular basis. Unfortunately, those who have no one to look in on them from time to time often get overlooked.

Your grandmother is very lucky to have you!

Try to collect her very old photographs and compile it in an album with her off springs joining her in her later stage till the present day and give her a good spectacles to have a fresh and new view...

When she smiles tell her She still looks 19 and take a picture of her and stick it to the album.

Also if you have any of her old garments just add up some special touch and tell her that it is for her grand daughter if she has one...

And also our wishes from yahoo answers community...

I had the same situation a few months ago - my grandmother turned 89 and has Alzheimers. I made a large scrapbook with 8x10 and 5x7 photos of family members. She has poor eyesight - thus the large photos. I didn't use too many decorations on the pages to detract from the photos, but I added names to each page in case she were to forget who was in the photos or if someone else was looking at the book. Most of the photos were older ones - ones that she might remember better. I included her wedding photo, photos of us grandchildren when we were growing up, etc. She absolutely loved it. After a few minutes, she forgot who had given it to her, and she saw my photo - me at about 10 years old. She called me over to show it to me. She was so happy to have recognized that it was me in the photo.
