i understand basic sine waves but when i need to shift the graph is when i get confused. y= -3 + 3Sin(1/4)(x - (pi/2)) i don't really get how to solve this. i need to find the amplitude, period and the axis of wave. any help would be great, i'm not lazy and just don't want to do homework i really don't understand this and this is a last resort...kinda

Generally:

Any operator in front (in this case -3) is going to shift the whole graph by an absolute amount (in this case, down by 3).

Then any multipliers in front of the function (3 in this case) are going to determine the amplitude of the sine wave. (So in this case it's going to oscillate by a factor of 3, between -6 and 0 if my math isn't too rusty).

And then the period is determined by what's inside the parenthesis. Here I think there's an error in your formula how you typed it, so I'm not going to guess what it ought to be. But usually what's immediately inside the parenthesis is the period, then plus or minus some factor is going to give you the phase shift.
