There are ferries in the Philippines that can carry cars and even trucks. These are the so called "Ro-Ro" ferries being promoted by the government. I guess some people did not watch President Arroyo's TV ads about the Nautical Highway and Ro-Ro? In fact the Philtranco Bus has been operating from Pasay City in Metro Manila down to Davao City in Mindanao for over a decade now. Go to National Bookstore, they have Philippine road maps you can buy. However it does not give you details of these ferry trips. You have to go to Surigao City (Eastern Mindanao) which is the jump off point going to Maasin or Liloan town in Leyte Island, Visayas. From Leyte you travel to Northern Samar Island in Allen town through the famed San Juanico Bridge near Tacloban City. From Allen you take a ferry to Matnog in Sorsogon Province, the southern most tip of Luzon Island. I suggest you get detailed directions from expert travelers and probably from the tourism department. It is quite a long trip.

A very long trip indeed.

Tacloban to Maasin is okay.. but if their are any detours,
some of the roads in Southern Leyte are awfully rough.

My fiancee has taken the bus from Southern Leyte to
Manila and the trip was around 18 hours, if I remember
correctly. So, you should expect that a trip from Manila
to Davao is going to take at least a couple of days,
and that is if you don't encounter any problems.

nicely you may verify the tourism table on the airport or you may verify the national e book shop's map section (city map, street map purely) . besides the shown fact that, once you're specific to the section itself (how great davao city, topographic maps, etc..) you may verify with NAMRIA (national Mapping and source preparation Authority) placed in citadel Bonifacio Makati city...

If you want to make that trip on land, you'll be at the bottom of the ocean, because they are on different islands.
