Are other reasons why this is a good car i know its made by toyota. Also how does it compare to others like the honda civic and pontiac G5?

The people saying the Civic is better must be on crack! A base model Civic is S-L-O-W! Plus, the front looks like the rear and vice versa..UGLY! The tC holds its value pretty well, so that argument is a losing one. A used tC will go for $15-16k while a new one is $16-17k. The panoramic roof is nice, but the cheap cover for it could be of better quality. Plus the engine is really torquey in comparison to that lawn mower engine in the base model Civic. The tC has style! Looks like a baby G35 Coupe.

the overall styling of the tc is better than the honda or G5. the civic is very plain in the interior while the tc has gotten alot of its style DNA out of lexus. the G5 is the worst car out of all three as far as modifying. (plus its not a "ricer"). the tc has a larger engine 2.4L vs 1.8L. (and more powerful (164 hp)when compared to the civic (140 hp)(although not the SI). the only option that the honda has that the tc doesnt is a navigation system. It all depends on what you will be using the car for. if you want a nice family car then go with a civic sedan or the g5. if you want a fun sporty car that you can personalize...go with the tc.

Oh how many times I've answered this question... This is what I have put together throughtout the months. Some of it may apply to you and and other parts may not, but hey, never hurts to have all the information right?? :D

I've done my research on it, and am planning on buy one in July. Consumer guide best buy!!! Has the sporty looks that people like, the features of a more expensive luxury car and the reliability of Toyota behind it's name. I've spent numerous hours looking into any flaws or tech. problems and really the major only concern I've heard was there is too little room in the rear and the plastic roof cover. Well it is a hatchback, so if people wanted more room, go get an SUV or something lol. And no, it's not a chick car!! :) Put the TRD exhaust and intake with the rear ped spolier on it and you got your one hell of a car my friend. Of course you can always look into putting in the TRD supercharger lol. But overall, gas mileage 23/30 is good, 160 hp is all I really need and it has the great looks! I fell in love with this car and I drive an 05 civic ex and I find this to be much better then my little economy car. On a scale of 1-10 I rank it about a 9.8 Do what you think is best for you, but overall the tC is an excellent choice!!! I have test driven the auto tranny, and my only concern was the suspension was a little stiff. Not too bad though. The handling was increadable with the Z rated tires on it, that drive made my week lol. I'm getting the manual because I don't see an auto worth the extra $800 plus dollars. I don't see where you can go wrong! Good luck!

The Scion tC is an awesome car and would make a great first car due to its high build quality and reliability. I have had to opportunity to extensively drive a Scion tC and they are very fun and comfortable, has a good sounding stereo, and several standard safety features that other car in its class do not have. And it is safe in a collision. My best friend and 2 of her friends were struck from behind at approx 60 mph while at a stop, and no one in the car was hurt. I was amazing considering the rear bumper was almost in the back seat.
Its a good looking car to with made aftermarket parts available to customize your car. The standard moonroof is also a welcome feature to let the wind run through your hair in all seasons. It has keyless entry, anti lock brakes. I can not think of any bad things to say about the car.
I will say compare the price of a new one to a used. It may be worth your time.

Hope this helps you and hope to see you on scionlife.com soon!! Enjoy!

(Don't listen to the other people who just dis the tC, it's only becuase they're scared of change and their american built cars are doing so well that their companies have laid off hundreds of thousands of workers becuase they can't compete with companies like scion....)
***Civics are too overrated. Their good cars, great value but you can't really stand out in a civic. It seems as though there are 3 civics for every car on the road. lol. The scion has the awesome looks as mentioned above and I guarentee if you ask any tC owner, over 99% of them will always have something positive to say about them!! Hope this helps.

I LOVE MY TC!

I used to be all about American Muscle cars, but after test driving the tC, I was convinced. This car packs alot of punch in the 4 cyl engine, and looks great doing it. I highly recommend buying one, but test it out!

The reason I like this car so much, besides the factory upgrades, there is so much you can do with it. You can buy aftermarket parts and make it luxury, sporty, or neutral. I always say the tC is like the Swiss Army knife of compact cars, because there are so many cool things you get for under 18k. The feature I use the most are the rear seats fold completely down and I am able to get so much stuff in the rear hatch. I also like the panoramic moon/sunroof. Definitely check out www.ScionLife.com and see why tC owners are crazy in love wit their cars!

I have an 07, I think it is the best car for the money and options in the class. As far as keeping value, that is one of the primary reasons I kept it.

Civics are a dime a dozen and they have been flooded on the market.

They have kept TCs running out at a slower pace so they are more in demand due to short supply hence the value stays high.

Whatever you do, bump the stereo up a notch and get the pedestal spoiler, it really finishes the car off nicely.

i own a 06 tc since 11/26/06 and its amazing! no problems what so ever. its a great compact car with alot of leg room back and front. its really torquey for its class with 160 tq and can hold its value as much as a civic can. the civic is pretty slow and with 128 tq. the tc also has alot of options you can get for it too!

I have owned my 06 TC since 10/05... Not one major or minor complaint. Plenty of power, plenty of leg room even in the rear. I have a stick and it is very handily positioned. Everyone that has bought it raves about it. You hear Xb owners they give you this low tone "I like it"... You ask a TC owner and they'll all say in loud voice "I LOVE IT"...
The TC dose lack in the bass dept. If you don't get the factory subwoofer installed, you might want to look at a box or custom subwoofer installed. Radio is great once you tune it to your taste...

my opinion, the honda civic is a better buy than the tC. the civic has a better resale value and has a choice of two engines. it also is very appealing, and has some good standard features

Underneath, it's a 4 cylinder Camry. The Civic will run rings around it.
