I ate protein bars during pregnancy because I had a hectic work schedule along with school and didn't have time to sit and eat the "traditional" meal...My daughter, now 6 1/2 months is perfect with no problems. And protein is definitely good during pregnancy. You can also always get a second opinion from another doctor if you ever doubt anything your doctor is saying or has said.

I ate protein bars during pregnancy.
I had an aversion to meat during my pregnancy and had to find my protein in other places: tofu/soy, eggs, yogurt, cheese, beans, and protein bars. A protein bar should be fine. A diet bar with herbs and metabolic enhancers would not be fine. As long as your bar doesn't have anything like that, you should be safe.
Just make sure your meals are balanced and that you eat regularly. During pregnancy, you only need about 300 or so extra calories.

Protein bars are excellent for protein thats why there called protein bars. Not only are they good for you when pregnant but also when you dont have time to eat a healthy meal, when youre sick and when your old. Old folks homes feed them to their customers. If you dont eat a lot of meat there also a great way to get your protein. If you dont trust your doctor on little things like this then you need to find another doctor that you feel you can trust. If you dont feel comforable with little things like a protein bar your NOT going to feel comforable though your pregnancy.

I did not eat protein bars, but if you doctor said its ok and there are no additives I would say go for it. With my oldest son I craved (and ate) 3 or 4 boxes of Bird's Eye broccoli and cheese every day at one point. With my youngest, it was oranges. I would eat a bag of oranges a day. One thing thing to watch out for is what the bars are supplemented with. For instance, vitamin A in extremely high doses can cause birth defects.

Yes i did because those were the only things i could keep down in my first trimester. They arent JUST protein. There are also vitamins and minerals in them. Just as long as you arent living off of them for long long periods of time your shouldnt have a problem.
Protein isnt just found in protein bars. Eating eggs, eating red meats and things help bring up your protein.

I personally would stick with eggs, chicken and beef or soy for protein. There is a lot of other stuff they put into those bars that is not that great.

They should be fine...much safer than eating fast food or potato chips, LOL. Just watch that you don't eat too many of them during the day cuz they often have added vitamins in them and you don't want to overdo it. Moderation in all things is very wise. Vary your diet, because many foods have unhealthy possibilities, such as mercury in tuna fish which causes nerve damage and salmonella in eggs which causes food poisoning. Avoid soft cheeses and undercooked anything.
