Get a piece of paper..don't do it on the computer..you need to actually do the writing..get's the mind working..
at the top of the paper write.. "WHAT IF...."
number 1 through 10 ( or whatever number you want) down the left side of the paper.
then sit..and really think about what if certain things happened..
examples..
WHAT IF..there was a nuclear explosion
WHAT IF..I found out I was adopted
WHAT IF..I was forced to kill someone I knew..
stuff like that..it's almost like free writing ..it will get your mind going..

Rather than trying to think of a topic, think of a character.
Write about the character, who her or she is, what they're like and what they do. Then, present them with a problem to deal with, or a mission to accomplish.
It's better if you don't try to think up the plot before you think up the character. By creating a character, you'll discover the problems that character faces, or what that character will do in different situations. From those characteristics and discoveries, your plot will unfold.
