I have a Compaq Armada M700 and a Wireless-G Notebook Adapter (Model No: WPC54GX4). Every now and then the Network Adapter locks up my computer. I have Windows 2000 on it.

How do I fix this?

this is difficult to say how to fix it.

i made the same experience with a Dell laptop with Windows 2000 but only if beside the wireless card a second PCMCIA card was used. in this case the laptop locked up as soon as an access on the 2nd card took place. due to some unknown reasons Windows 2000 cannot handle 2 PCMCIA cards at the same time (this is only true for some combinations of PCMCIA cards, other combinations work flawless). in case you're using 2 PCMCIA cards, remove the 2nd, maybe this may fix the problem.
addendum: the combination that doesn't work is a wireless card with an USB 2.0 adapter card.

furthermore i would suggest to do an update of Windows 2000 (in case you haven't already done it).
in the browser window click on Tools > Windows Update and install all important updates. this can improve the behaviour of Windows 2000 considerably.
