Clay Volcano Problem?

I am doing the classic volcano project, and wanted to know what some problems might be, like for example, is there a way for the "lava" to shoot up into the air, or do something like this? maybe overflow, anything? need immediate ideas though! Thanks

agitated soda water with cap on - then release (great for explosive types).
There is a slower reaction I think with baking soda but I don't have time to look it up - you can do a quick web search and get the formula (slower eruptions).
