As close to because the physicists can tell, time began with the large bang. to talk of a time in the previous the large bang is incomprehensible. after all, the consensus between scientists who study this stuff is that that is only no longer achieveable to understand what became happening "earlier" to the large bang.

There probably never was a 'big bang'....the 'big bang' is a speculation , a hypothesis that has never been proven.
The real concern is that there had to be something 'before'.....It was probably God.
My thought is that Genesis 1 is the way it had to have happened.
