I recently have lost a lot of weight and my suits are huge on me. I used to wear a 48 regular but just got fitted today and was between a 44L and a 46L. Most of my suits are pretty expensive (super 110's and 120's) and I hate to throw them away. But I also realize that a poor fitting suit is a poor fitting suit, regardless of fabric or quality.

Will a recut suit fit me right or look crummy? Lastly, can anyone suggest a good tailor in the Wash DC/Northern VA area? thanks.

Usually a tailor should be able to fix your problem.

Your suits should turn out fine if you get them tailored and resized. The best rule of thumb is two sizes. If you're going down two sizes, you should be fine. If the number of sizes are greater than two, then I would suggest going and getting new suits.

I do not live in your area, so I would not be able to help with a good tailor. You should maybe ask around at work.

Good luck!

I'm not from your area but from personal experience, I have had many dresses and business suits "down sized". I found a great tailer at my local dry cleaning shop. I have also had formal evening outfits altered by little tailor shops in the mall. You can also try finding a good tailor in a bridal or tux shop, or you can even inquire at your local yardage/fabric shop. There are lots of amazing seamtresses who buy from fabric shops. I recently found an historical costume seamtress for my renaissance wedding at a neighborhood fabric store.
Congrats on losing the weight!!!

I would be skeptical that you would be happy with the result. If you want, try it with one suit first and find out. Don't commit to doing them all at once.

They can be resized, but have it done professionally and don't do all of them.
if your weight fluxuates, you will have no suits that fit.

Just grow your man boobs back and save yourself the hassle.
