Why does America's Next Top Model refer to seasons as "cycles?"?

OMJ! i heart that show! I want to model so badly! It refers to the seasons as cycles because when a show has seasons, they are only once a year and start in the begining of an actual season! Unlike ANTM! Hope that helped!
