true....but our country is named America not really the U.S.
U.S is short for the United States of America because we are America and divided into States within our country. Alaskans are also called Americans because they are a state withinin our country.....Argentina is not. It is a South American Country, and totally seperate from our country. Canadians are sometimes refered to as North Americans and Mexicans are South Americans, both are categorized because of their continents name. Americans are also NOrth Americans too because America is located in NOrth America, the continent. Get it now?
Besides every one hates us "evil Americans" and would not want to have our name anyway so get over it. Now all of a sudden mexicans and Canadians want to be known as America too???? I doubt that.

The USA is the only country with "America" in its name, "United States of America". Everybody else can be called "South American", "Central American" or "North American", but only we are just plain "American".

Ya know I always wondered that myself. But I mean what else are we? United States-ans.. see it doesnt sound right. and it cant be North Americans cuase that includes canada. So do we really have a name for oursleves?
