I am about to sell my original DS and I am not sure what the value is. If it is heightened then I will leave the skin, and if not then I won't.

It will depend on the person's preference. Just like choosing the color of a video game system. It would be best to find out if the intended purchaser would be willing to pay more if it does not have the skin. In my opinion, I wouldn't pay more just because it is decorated nicely as long as its in mint condition.
