I have been constipated for months now. (My doc. says its constipation). I get cramps and my stomache grumbles alot!!!
It's also hard to poop.
Please tell me what's wrong and what I can do!! It has been 5 months- I'm suffering!

Yes, constipation can make you miserable. These guidelines should help:
1. drink plenty of fluids, particularly water
2. increase your fiber
3. exercise
4. drink prune juice
5. you can use glycerine suppositories
6. limit or avoid low/no fiber foods

For fiber:
whole grain bread or cereal
bran cereals
beans
fresh fruit
vegies: asparagus, brussel sprouts, cabbage, carrots

No/low fiber foods to limit/avoid:
ice cream
processed foods
meat
cheese

Do not get into a laxative habit! Glycerine suppositories are not habit forming...they will just soften your stool making it pass easier.

If all else fails, request further medical testing of your constipation to be sure you don't have an undiagnosed medical issue. However, most of the time, constipation is remedied by a change in diet and an increase in fluid intake.
