Tango is a social dance originating in Buenos Aires Argentina, and Montevideo Uruguay. The musical styles that evolved together with the dance are also known as "tango."

Uruguay produces a lot of beef. Therefore it should come as no surprise the Uruguayan cuisine uses a lot of beef. Uruguayan are some of the largest consumers of beef in the world. If there were to be a national dish it would have to be churrasco (a tasty grilled steak). Another popular dish is the parrillada, which is a platter of succulent grilled beef. If you are looking for something a little different don't pass up chivitos. Chivitos are essentially a steak sandwhich which will then be topped by eggs, cheese, bacon (sometimes), and lettuce and tomato. As you can see...beef is popular. Check out a open pit barbeque if you have a chance. You are sure to enjoy the experience.

There wasn’t an official dance in Chile that would represent them. but on September 18th. 1979 as per act number 23; it was decided that Cueca be the National Dance of Chile.

Chilean foods: Pastel de Choclo (a corn pot pie), humitas (the chilean version of the tamale), or gambas al pil-pil (scampi, but better), etc. are some of my favorites. If you visit www.sitios.cl and go almost to the bottom of the page, there is a tab named "Cocina " (for cuisine), you can click on one of the selections and you will get recipes...though in spanish, you may not have to much difficulty translating...try especially the humitas accompanied by the ensalada a la chilena (a tomatoe and onion salad), a very typical fare (and very easy to make)!

Chiliean food - empanadas, filete a lo pobre, mariscos, cazuela. McDonald's is here and customers can add avocado paste to any sandwich. Cheese empanadas are also sold at all McDonald's locations in Chile under the same category as fries.

Uruguay food - adado, alfajores de maicena con dulce de leche. McDonald's is also there with their burger called the McFiesta!

mucho gusto!
