As a public school teacher, whenever I hear people talk about making public schools more capitalist or talking about the 'liberal' agenda I say get rid of free public education. They think they know best, let's see what it really means.

I sure would. My county spends $10,000 per student per year on the school, but collects maybe $1000 per child in real estate taxes. How many people can afford to pay that much for their childrens' educations?
If I stopped paying taxes, I would still have to come up with another $9000 per year to do what the government does.
It would be a disgrace if we stopped that system. The gap between rich and poor would suddenly become impossibly huge. The rich would be educated and the poor would be illiterate. We'd become like Africa.

The way so many young people from the subcultures drop out of school, and the number of families that are homeschooling to avoid the negative contacts, it may just happen in a couple of generations. The idea of a free and available educational system is wonderful, but, not always appreciated. For example, your second sentence refers to people"relay" when you could have used, 'rely'......I rest my case. Best wishes

Yes, equality in education is a cornerstone of our liberty. Denial of education to citizens based on ability to pay is something we would not expect or tolerate from a civilized society.
