The battle of Midway was the most significant battle that turned the tide against the Japanese during World War II.

During this battle, the Japanese lost 4 Aircraft Carriers, from which the Japanese military could never recover from.

Sorry I cannot furnish three details as you requested - the most significant detail was the loss of those 4 Aircraft Carriers.

The single biggest issue was when the US broke the Japanese Naval code. The US could read the enemies secret messages and were able to glean some crucial intelligence from this.

In fact this was directly responsible for the US victory at Midway. The Americans knew they were coming, where, how and with how many ships. So instead of the Japanese luring the US fleet into a trap by attacking midway, they were themselves ambushed during the attack.

Battle of Midway---Why?

1. showed the Americans' resiliency and bouncing back from Pearl Harbor in just over 6 months.
2. showed that Pearl Harbor was not as complete a triumph for Japan as once they thought
3. showed to the Americans and the Japanese (from General Yamamoto)that the Japanese would have to defeat America quickly or she was awakening a sleeping giant
4. America would soon start the island hopping that would bring them to the precipice of victory and showed the Japanese weakness of mismanagement of the amount of forces on each island which only delayed the outcome of their defeat.

The Battle of Midway. It blunted the Japanese offensive and destroyed several Japanese aircraft carriers which Japan could ill afford to replace. It also allwoed the Americans to focous on offense, although they did have to worry about the Japs in the Aleutions. The battle also served as proof that Japanese communications could be intercepted and read with accuracy.
