I thought that Yahoo provided a free anti-virus/anti-spyware/etc download before and now I can't find it. Am I wrong or have they just stopped doing that?

Not that I can recall - if it was it would probably have been resource hungry, with an annoyingly non-standard user interface and littered with bugs. Why not just use AVG/Sygate etc?

I use the free = Avast = 4 Home Edition - Free antivirus software - free virus protection for home PC: - full-featured antivirus package designed for home usage.(FREE) = http://www.avast.com and really like it as it has always kept me safe from virus, worms, trojans, etc.,

An important thing to keep in mind, regardless of which anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-spyware and firewall you use
( http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/default.mspx ) is to keep it UPDATED, just as it is important to make sure you have all windows critical and security updates +

Note: The way I have mine set is to only notify me that updates are availiable, but to not download them automaticaly. Then I can check to be sure I get just the ones I want. I then click on "custom", and after the updates have been downloaded I look them over to see which ones I want, then disconnect from the net, disable firewall and anti-virus program, and then install the updates, and then re-enable the firewall and anti-virus programs before reconnecting to the net.

first of all,AVG sucks. It has an relatively low and intensely gradual detection value, via the time it alternatives up a virulent disease, it particularly is oftentimes too previous due, you're already contaminated.Get avast for anti-virus, threatfire for spyware and malwar, and spyware begone for spyware. All 3 are unfastened and are realtime secure practices, which ability they're working each and all the time you're utilising your computing gadget.once you're apprehensive approximately utilising too many materials with all of them working, my computing gadget runs at approximately 18% with them working.

Yes, if you were a SBC Yahoo customer it came with it free. I have been on cable now for a year or so and my stuff is still working on my computer. It does show that the antivirus is not running but when i do a check it works.
