Not really. The Roman empire grew from a force of arms, American is not trying to conquor other countrys for terrority, but for political stability.

Also, Pax Romana was probably the best time in WESTERN civilization. Even while Rome itself was full of political intrigue and decadent lifestyles, the rest of the empire enjoyed a time of peace and relative safety. The roads, aquaducts and other improvements in the conquored countries usually brrought a lifestyle that was a vast improvement over their previous existance.

Anyway, it is comparing Apples and Oranges.

PS: The Japanese empire has been around since before the romans. They have been defeated, but they are still there. . .

i do no longer think of the US is from now on doomed than the different us of a on earth. the US is at the instant an significant us of a, besides the undeniable fact that it does no longer advise we are going to finally end up like Rome. a great number of people want to apply that analogy, besides the undeniable fact that it rather is unrealistic, by way of fact cases have exchange. people are normally greater civilized than they have been 1000's of years in the past, there are protection nets in place to guard international locations, and this worldwide isn't any longer a worldwide of sovereign international locations that have limited touch with one yet another. The final helpful us of a became great Britain, and it in no way collapsed. It merely slowly lost it rather is ability as usa and the U.S. began battling for the flexibility. great Britain immediately remains an significant us of a, besides the undeniable fact that it is not the main helpful. that's what i think of will take place to the US. perchance which would be a solid concern. Then our government can concentration greater on our own people and enable another us of a screw up the planet for a metamorphosis.

Well, yeah....but only if *you INSIST on it*. O_O

Really, I know it's a bummer that the barbarians are at the gates and crap (Wahabbis, Illegal Immigrants, Druggies, etc.), but it isn't too late. Things don't *have to* fall apart. Not yet.

All we have to do is get off our tails and *do something* about it. Just a humble example....

How many people here on Polls & Surveys have got email from someone, an Asker of a Question who didn't like your Answer? Ok....did you try to let it go? Ok, good....I had something like this happen with me yesterday. Just Yesterday.

And the person wrote back, getting in my face, attacking me for being personal and up front about my life *in Other Answers* that had nothing whatsoever to do with *his* Question. And eventually, he had the nerve to give me a "Best Answer" on his Question *just so* he could rant at me out in public.

And you know, I could have just ignored him, sat there, and *took it*. -_- I was tempted to, but there is something about being called a "candyass *****" in email, and then again in public here on Answers, that really got on my last nerve.

So I reported him. On Everything he did. If he was going to rummage around in my Profile looking for dirt, I may as well do the same for him, and *take out the garbage*. Turns out he was an obscene little bastid, and he had it coming to him....so I reported every Answer he gave (all 20+ of them) and every Question as well (twice....click on the link, then on the flag, it works).

Now granted....it was easy for me to do this as he was only at level one....but I was angry enough I would have likely done it to him regardless of level at that point.

Still, the message is: Sometimes, you have a *right* to be Angry. Sometimes *anger* comes from a legitimate place--that part of you that tells you "something is WRONG here".

And if you can take away the message of "Do Something About It" and keep it separate from the "Smash Puny Humans!" one....yeah, you should. It might allow you to rise to the occasion and do some good for people.

And America needs to do more of this. We need less of the destructive "Smash..." anger and *more*, lots more of the "Do Something..." sort of anger

Because we *don't* have to take this. We don't. We can still do something about it, however small, and keep ourselves from either a) sliding into Empire in the first place, or b) letting it all collapse when the Romans held out for nearly 800 years--both Republic and Empire--and had a lot *less* to work with.

Thanks for your time and patience. ^_^ Have a good one!
