Hi for some reason my new pc isn't working with my moniter, installed xp no probs...get the blue screen w/green boxes ect...then it cuts out...does work in safe mode however...it is an older moniter a (optiquest q71) anyone have any ideas why this is happening ?

go into your computer BIOS and make sure the primary graphics agapter is set to what ever your card it (AGP, PCI, etc) and try booting it up that why. Also disable integrated video if you have it. Try booting. If that doesn't work, go into safe mode w/ networking, install your video card drivers. Go into device manager and uninstall any display adapters your not using.

Boot into safe mode then right click on the desktop and select properties and then the settings tab. You need to select the proper resolution and adapter for your monitor.

Your graphics card could be loading a default resolution that is too high for your older monitor. Most graphics card default to 1024x768 and a lot of older monitors have max res of 800x600
