Well, you have to philosophies to attribute to "why or why not" something involved or effect you or it, either because of determinism or free-will.

Some people do the following.....

If something good happened to someone or if someone avoided something bad, they would attribute it to "free-will", so they could accept the credit for the positive outcome.

If something Bad happened to someone or missed out on something good, they would blame it on Determinism. That way they could deflect the blame in regard to the negative outcome.
