I was going through questions trying to think of smart alec answers, when I saw one from an ill person who was genuinely looking for an answer to a serious health problem.

the saddest question,ive ever come across and answered,was from a guy called,the daddy,he and his young wife lost their baby son,3 wks ago tonight,it was so sad,and I did feal really awful for him,I just want to help people if I can.

No there are all sorts of people out there who use Y!A all for different reasons. I mainly answer questions and in the last week Ive answered one that involved telling someone about my brothers best friend who was killed in a motorcycle accident aged 16, to get a 14 year old to think twice about getting a motorbike.
Ive also answered a question about someone travelling down the motorway on rollerskates with a shopping trolley full of string!
As long as you can ignore the serious questions if you're not in a serious mood and don't make anyone's situation any worse, its all ok.

If someone comes with a serious question that I cannot help with I leave it alone, otherwise what the hey, bring on the smart alecs, I like to have a laugh too.

Sometimes you see questions from people who are serious and seeking help, others you have to take with a grain of salt as being fake. Others are just for fun.
If you run across a serious question and can help, take the time to do it. Maybe if you do, one day when you have a problem someone else will take the time out to help you.

I'm not the nicest person on Y.A. But I do have morals and try to help out those who are genuinely looking for some help. But other than that often I'm a really jerk and crack jokes.

I try to give honest and useful answers to any genuine questions. Fun questions get fun answers and idiotic or offensive questions get sarcastic answers.
I have received more than one e-mail thanking me for an answer that has genuinely helped someone with their problems.

It used to, then I realised Y>A is an open forum, I have asked serious questions and got answers which helped me. For light relief, I will check answers on irrelevant questions, Questions asked by MORONS I just ignore.
