AT&T Worldnet.net which used Netscape Navigator for the main browser until the first free browser was offered, IE...
from there it was www.startrek.com. My poor little 33.6 KB modem took nearly five minute to load the page.

Funny, but didn't you ask this question a few days ago?
Anyway it was 20 years ago, (1987) I got my first website from an "Internet Café" which were places where you could run a PC for an hour for $4.00 (very few had one at home then).
The guy said "Just log in to www.pathfinder.com and you'll be there for hours. It has 12 magazines all FREE".
And the FUNNIEST thing is that it still has all those magazine free to-day, as we speak !
If you want People, Money, Life, Time, etc etc etc they are all there for the asking at www.pathfinder.com
I cannot remember ANY other website that has stood the TEST OF TIME like that one.

My very first website was:
http://www.google.com
Well obvious and geeky I know but we all started somewhere.
I remember http://www.hotmail.com was high up there as well, as I needed to make an email account.
I also remember going to http://www.wikipeida.com to do some homework. Basically I used the Internet for educational purposes.
All the best

You are probably too young to remember such things as "Compuserve". Originally text only bbs service.
Of course they weren't called "websites" back then.
