I am writing a book which is for my son when his daddy is no longer here. It is called Father To Son and it is a kinda biography/ family history/scrapbook. It includes a lot of tales and photos etc. I also would like to give him memories of music that makes me think of him and so far I have:
Father To Son.........By Queen............1974
Father and son........Ronan Keating....2004
What do you think would be would be a meaningful sentiment if it were your child and why?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Some drawings and pictures of you as a child.Include a recording of your voice with a nice message.A wrap of your fav candy,a silly picture of you with a costume or some interesting wardrobe.
One t shirt or something that belongs to you with your smell.
A nice letter.A collage of pictures of you and you with him.
Honestly anything that give him an idea of how you were then and are now.

I lost my mom 5 yrs ago and she was my best friend,I miss her a lot and I only have 3 pic of her ( she didn't like to be taken pic), one when she was in high school, one when she was 22 and another one from my wedding and I treasure them a lot. I also have a piece of clothing with her smell in a plastic bag and a ring I gave her and also a letter she wrote once when I move to the states and I hug them and take them out everytime I miss her and need to feel her close.
So, leave him things that make his memories and mind fly away to you in heaven when you are not longer with him.

"Each one of us is an angel with one wing, and if we hug real thight we can fly together"...you have one he have one too, when you are away he'll need your wing, but in the meantime, those memories will help him to fly to you....
Take Care!
p.s. sorry for my english:)

Daddy What If - Bobby Bare and Bobby Bare Junior
I have this track on an album called Lullabys, Legends and Lies. Another track on this album called The Mermaid is one of my all time favourites for its funny lyrics and catchy tune.
Good luck

n.b. there was an item on Yahoos Oddly Enough news recently saying that the Japanese are perfecting a method of adding personal information to your genes which your descendants would be able to access and read.

Seeing my father in Me by George Strait(?)
That's My Job Conway Twitty this one makes me cry about how a little boy is scared and its Daddy's job to care for him as they grow up and get old. At the end its the boys job as a songwriter to do his job and write a song honoring his father.
Another cool song recently came out on the country charts is "I've been watching you" and how the little boy learns both good and bad by watching his Dad

AAaaawww... that's so sweet.

I have a song... I don't remember what it's called. I think its something like "Dance with my mother again"

And It's about a man who's lost his father, andall he wants in the world is see his dad dance with his mom one last time.

I've only heard it one... I was in the car with my father. It made him cry. It was the first time he's cried since he lost his dad.

hope ive been some help. you could probably google a few words and come up with lots of song.

you're a very sweet man.

What about some poetry? "If" by Rudyard Kipling:

I'll only put the last few lines, but the complete poem is a recipe for a fulfilling life:

"If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
"Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
"If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
"If all men count with you, but none too much;

"If you can fill the unforgiving minute
"With sixty seconds/ worth of distance run - -
"Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
:And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
and one of my absolutely favourite poems (which is also a song) by Bob Dylan - I believe it was written to his son: "Forever Young"

Again, I'm only going to give you the final stanza:

"May your hands always be busy,
"May your feet always be swift,
"May you have a strong foundation
"When the winds of changes shift.
"May your heart always be joyful.
"May our song always be sung,
"And may you stay FOREVER YOUNG."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

What a wonderful project you are doing for your son. I hope that it goes well, and that you are well. I myself am in the midst of also writing my Memoirs - which are also aimed at my children and descendants.

All the best.

Very sweet country song about a mother and son after his daddy is gone...the son reminds her of her husband

HE GETS THAT FROM ME
(Reba McEntire)

His early mornin' attitude
You have to drag him out of bed
Only frosted flakes will do
He gets that from me
Yeah,he gets that from me

His curly hair and his knobby knees
The way the sun brings those freckles out
Talk and talk never miss a beat
Yeah,he gets that from me
He gets that from me

He looks at me with those big brown eyes
He's got me in the palm of his hands
And I swear sometimes
It's just like you're here again
He smiles that little crooked smile
There's no denying he's your child
Without him I don't know what I'd do
He gets that from you
Oh,he gets that from you

How he loves your old guitar
Yeah,he's taught himself to play
He melts my heart
Tells me he loves me every day
And cracks a joke at the perfect time
Makes me laugh when I want to cry
That boy is everything to me
He gets that from you
He gets that from you

Last night I heard him pray
Lord, help me and mama make it through
And tell daddy we'll be okay
He said he sure misses you
He sure misses you
He really misses you
He gets that from me
