Get to know your neighbors and watch. If you see something that looks out of character maybe discuss it with a neighbor or call the police. I live in a fairly small town where neighbors watch out for each other. If there is a problem with cars being broken into, we let each other know. Making yourself visible can also be a good idea. I sit outside in my front yard and chat with my husband, play with my dog and wave at friends driving past.
