These carriers are within launching range of Iran which is believed to have the "Sizzler" carrier destroying missile. To date, the US Navy has no defence against this supersonic weapon developed by Russia.

We've had one or two aircraft carriers (plus their battle-groups) in the Persian Gulf since 1990. Iran hasn't popped a "Sizzler", a "Shaddock", nor a C-802 off yet...
I did 4 cruises inside the Gulf, and we are WIRED on watch for any emissions or signs of launch... can't say more.
Iran would be absolutely INSANE to ever launch on a US carrier.

They are not out their by themselves. They are surrounded by frigates and war ships to defend them. That's their job to go in harms way. If, and I say if Iran would be so foolish to launch do we think we would sit by. I think their Navy and Air Force would last about ten minutes. They call it a carrier group for good reason

Its a show of force, Iran or Russia does not have the weapons we do, These weapons from Russia are not all they are made out to be. We have a very advanced military, I think they would know better then us if they truly were in harms way

Do you really think the US Navy is going to declassify information regarding defence of the "sizzler missle"?

I don't know where you here this garbage. If they have them why haven't they tried them out. It wouldn't be the first time Iran has attacked an American ship. (During Mideast manuevers an American Destroyer was attacked) by Iran. Don't worry though the American fleet is in capable hands and there defenses are just fine.

because they is no possibility of them being attack right now and if they do get attack the carriers could counter it

Well, they aren't inside Iranian waters. So I don't think they are facing any greater dangers than already existed. Plus, I don't think Iran is stupid enough to strike at one of our carriers.

Thats right. Lets back down to Iran who is hostile to one of our closest allys, Britian. Make them know we won't stand up to them. The problem is they don't fear us anymore

Don't know.I just hope our rules of engagement are in favor of our uniformed personnel.Unlike the Brits who were not allowed to fire on them.
If i were the captain,i would have opened fire.
