do any of you know any epic poems? It can't be to long because I have to memorize it and my teacher told me to find it online and so far I haven't found anything good. Please HELP!!

I was going to say "Beowolf" but then saw you had to memorize it....oy!

Are you sure you have to memorize an entire epic poem? The very definition of an epic poem contains the word "lengthy."
The "Iliad" and the "Odyssey," written by Homer are among the first (if not the first) known epic poems, but each is very, very long.
Then there's the "Song of Hiawatha" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, but that's very long also.
I'd check with your teacher about how many lines of an epic poem you are expected to memorize, as I really doubt any teacher would expect students to memorize an entire epic poem.
If your assignment is to memorize only so many lines of an epic poem, then the Song of Hiawatha might be a good choice. The language is not hard to memorize, and there are quite a few lines from this poem quoted in Wikipedia. com under (suprisingly) "Song of Hiawatha."

You are in trouble, or your teacher was pulling your leg. Epic poems tell great stories, such as the Iliad or the Odyssey. Check Yeats, he might have written a short epic about Ireland. "Sir Gawain and the Green Giant" (author unknown, at least to me) is about 7 or 8 pages long, and might do.

That could be a problem. Epic poems are long by definition. You could try "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere". That one goes quick. I had to memorize it in 5th grade. Good luck!!

you have to memorize an epic poem? an epic poem is generally long and illustrates a story, tradition or legend etc etc. i think you should memorize a section of an epic poem, not the whole thing.
