In the middle ages most castles and palaces had toliets designed to move waste either into the moat or into other areas where it could be flushed away. Chamber pots were used at times by kings and queens. At some time the king of England had a servant who wiped the king's back side. Many castles used rainwater to flush out latrine tubes, and many were rinsed with perfumed water to keep down the stench.

Sanitation actually went downhill after the middle ages, as new palaces were built without taking toliets into account in some places, so called "noble architecture". This, and the fear of getting disease from bathwater, are some of the resons for perfume use beig so prevelent. Chamber pots remained in use well after the Middle Ages.

In midevil Europe, they used chamber pots which some poor flunky (chamber maids and all) had to empty (talk about a hideous job). They might have even had "seatless" chairs (sort of like big potties). In ancient Rome, they had actual stone benches with cutouts that emptied into a "sewer" system that ran into the ocean Iyeh). They wiped themselves with a wet brush (yow) that was shared by everyone. I sure am glad we have advanced a bit since then.

No. Ancients are no longer with regard to the present monarchs. all the monarchs of Europe are proper. there have been many monarchs who married off all their little ones to different monarchs...Victoria, Louis XIV, Charles II, Isabel and Fernando.

The loo, I think that's what it was called. It was made of cement or something. I saw it in a movie.
