When I fall asleep at night my legs go numb, then I can't go to sleep because it becomes uncomfortable. I have tried getting up and walking around but it doesn't help much because as soon as i go to bed, it happen again. Because of this I haven't been able to get a good night sleep in a very long time. I have had MRIs done, tons of doctors visits, even taken off hormonal birth control and nothing has improved. HELP, I don't know what else to do...and I'm tired. Thank you for your time.

you should try to raise your legs with a pillow or two when going to sleep
it sounds like poor circulation to me
you need to see a vascular specialist for this
and no this is not restless leg syndrome

Have you tried raising the head of your bed so that you aren't laying level with the ground? Blood will travel by gravity and if your legs aren't getting enough blood to them they will go numb. By raising the head of your bed by about a foot, if your legs don't get numb, I would invest in buying an adjustable hospital bed.

Do they really go numb, or do they tingle? Because once on a while my legs tingle when i go to bed. That is called restless leg syndrome (RLS). They have a foundation and medication. Maybe you could consult one of there web sights
to see if your symptoms resemble those of RLS. Good luck!!

Does changing sleeping positions change anything? I'd experiment with different pillows, one between the legs, maybe a different mattress. If you sleep on the couch or floor does the same thing happen?

Stress could be a factor. Try taking a good mulitvitamin daily, drink a glass or warm milk before bed because it help you relax. If you get leg cramps it could be low potassium, so eat more bananas:).
