so.. my boyfriend is going on a great vacation in about a month.. he has decided to go on the slim fast diet.. drinking 2 shakes.. 1 in the morning.. 1 at lunch.. and a light dinner.. moslt to loose love handles.. he's in no way over weight.. just says he wants to be "thin". Should I feel as if I need to loose weight too? I am about 10-15lbs over weight.. in great shape.. very happy with myself.. should I take the same approach.. or just assume that he's ok with my size? I go to the gym 3-4 times a week for cardiio/biking etc.. Thanks everyone!

Dude, probably your overweight is due to muscle mass, not fat mass. For what you say, both you and your bf are a lot into exercising and must be in a very good shape already. I wouldn't do it, and I'd tell my bf to stop it...

On the other hand however... as long as it is for a short time... but anyway, i don't think it will work...

ok...where to begin...where to begin.
(1) Anyone that is willing to do that (starve on slimfast) only for the purpose of "looking thin" has serious body image issues. If he eats a normal diet, and then switches to that overnight, he'll probably be starving, irritable, slow his metabolism down enormously, and probably gain back the original weight he lost plus some after the trip. There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to lose weight, but only if it's done in a healthy way.
(2) do you think you need to lose weight? no...here's why..you said "in great shape.. very happy with myself..". if you want to change your work-out or maybe eat healthier, great! dont' feel compelled to change your life just because he does.

(3) I seriously hope his weight loss isn't a reflection on you, as one answerer responded. if it is, that's so passive aggressive...move on.

he should be free to do what he wants (even if it is moderately self-destructive). but you have to make the decision for yourself as far as being healthy and happy.

Is the weight tied to him? if so, please untie it (loosen it) right away!

Loose = untie, unbind
Lose = misplace diminish

You need to make your own decision about your weight, but also support his choices.
