Yes because he is new in the MLB. You could be 45 years old and win rookie of the year if it is your first year in the MLB. You could play in China, Japan and then the MLB and you could win rookie of the year. Just as long as it is your first year in the MLB you could win any award.

Dice K can win rookie of the year, as it will be his rookie season in Major League Baseball. If he at least contends for the award, it should be a succesful year for the Redsox.

Yes he can. Ichiro won rookie of the year and Hideki Matsui either won it or came a close second. It is a stupid rule but if they haven't played in the major leagues before they are eligible. You could be 40 and a career minor leaguer and if you come up and star, you can be rookie of the year.

Even if he can, he will not come close. The only reason people think he is good is because he has like 8 different pitches. 8 is a very large number and sounds impressive but if you don't have a knuckle ball, they are all going to start looking like the normal 4 pitches that everyone can throw. If you ask me, the Red Sox paid way too much for a mediocre pitcher.

Ichiro was ROY with several professional Japanese league years of experience. Why not Daisuke? If he throws his gyro-ball from the pitcher's mound around third base before it crosses the plate for a World-Series-winning strikeout, he would deserve to be the rookie of all time, not just the year.
