Ok, here is the situation-my teenage brother(15) got his girlfriend(15) pregnant, she is currently 6mths pregnant. My mother just phoned me and said that my brother's girlfriend's mother wants to move away and give the baby up for adoption. My mother pleaded with her and told her that she wanted the baby and she would care for it. The mother said NO, that the baby would be too close to where she lives and remind her of the baby. What rights does my brother have for his unborn child. Does his girlfriend's mother have the right to do what she is going to do. Frankly she doesnt really give a damn about the baby. When both families first heard about the pregnancy, the girlfriend's mother said she didnt want to hear any babies crying in her home, so of course it was unsaid that the baby would live with my parents, but now girlfriends father threw her and her mother out for her getting pregnant, and now she is deciding to do this. My mother is torn up inside of the prospect of losing her..

There are none, you would have to get a court order for an amniocentesis in order to prove paternity but until that happens you have no rights.

***** Yes your mother needs to get a lawyer ASAP! Your mother can request a Amniocentesis to prove paternity and once paternity is confirmed she cannot place the child up for adoption without your consent. But if your mother waits to long and your gf's mother has already moved her out of state then it will be more difficult for you guys.*******

Unfortunately the father doesn't have any rights when an unborn child is concerned. Supreme Court decisions, and feminist activists have made sure of that. The main reason is because the unborn child (which is a child, not a fetus) is part of the mother's body and therefore her right to control. This means that if she wants to have an abortion, you the father have no way to stop her. I wish things were different, but unfortunately this is not the case. Now, after the baby is born the father has just as much rights to the baby as the mother does given that the father is considered adequate.

On a personal note, I feel that it is ironic that a father who doesn't want to support a child can be forced to support the child (and he should), but a mother who wants an abortion cannot be forced to have the baby if the father wants the baby and she does not. Yes, I understand that it is her body, but the baby is also part of the father so I wish that a compromise could be made.

there's really nothing u can do RIGHT NOW
but after the baby is born just go to court & get custody
they would rather have the baby placed with family than anyone else

Do you mean as for whether the baby should be kept, none. However if the baby is born he can fight for custody.

It seems like they should have some. Ask this in Law and Ethics. I'm sure someone there has an answer for you.

As many rights as the mom, no matter what decision is made it has to be made by both parents.
