Okay...so I have a wired router that all of the computers in the house are hooked up to, and I was wondering if there was anything I could get that would allow me to connect to our network wirelessly from my laptop without having to buy a whole separate wireless router...if that makes any sense at all.

Yes, you will have to purchase a wireless access point, not a router. The access pount will plug into your routers ethernet port. Then any computers that connect to the access point wirelessly will also be connected to your router.

That being said the access points generally cost more then purchasing a new wireless router.

Yes, you can get a Wireless Access Point, which plugs into one of the wired ports on the router and lets you connect to it wirelessly, with the wired router still handling the DHCP and so forth.

No it is not possible, but you will be able to buy a wireless router. Plug an ethernet cable into one of the open slots on your current router and plug the other end into the 'internet' slot for the wireless router. I use this setup and it works fine. As an added benefit the wireless router you get will also have some ethernet ports so you will have extra ports to work with.

Hi Amy,

There are adapters you could use but I would recommend you go to Best Buy, Circuit City or Walmart & ger a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. Don't pay more then $49.95. They are almost always "on sale" at all three places.

Your wireless will be quicker and easier to secure.
