I heard somewhere that there's a whole city somewhere in Europe built on water...like some kinda floating city or something...and then...when I think about it...watching Ocean's 12...and the group of people lifted a house in some place in Europe to break into it to get something valuable. ...anyways...if there's such thing....what's the city called? how'd they build it?

Include links for more information if possible

Venice Italy... It was built on solid ground, but they had a major flood a while back, the water hasn't left the city.. supposedly its "sinking"

But there is no place on earth built on the water...

No such place, it is a fantasy.
Venice in Italy may be the closest to a city built in water.
