Elephants have no reason to hibernate, they live in Africa and it doesnt get cold there so they don't hibernate.

every being including humans have a gene to enable them to hibernate. but its only active in some like bears because they need it. elephants dont live in zones where it snows. so they dont need to hibernate.
to hibernate a lot of hormonal and physical changes administered by the gene need to take place. its not just sleeping for a long time. but if we can activate the gene, it might hibernate.
