How do you publish a book?

im 13 years old and how do i publish a book....

i really want to write a book and publish it. It will be so neat and I want to write

well, you could send a manuscripe to a publisher, and then they could acept. if you look up on yahoo local, look up publishing companys and then if your lucky they will give you a advance, and then you will have some nice money. if not then, and you can't find anyone look up these sites.

You need to know how to tell a great story. If you are writing in a particular genre (ie: science fiction, romance, fantasy, etc), you need to read every book you can find in the genre to get an idea of what publisher have purchased in the recent past. Study your market, keeping in mind the newest book currently on the book selves were bought over a year ago (maybe even longer). Once you have finished your book, you need to make sure it is free of grammatical errors, plots holes and underdeveloped characters. Have others read it. They will be able to see flaws that you can't.

Once you have perfected your manuscript, then you need to query publishers. Basically, that means you need to pitch your book and ask them to read it. Then it is a waiting game. Be prepared for LOTS of rejection. Not necessarily a bad thing...just take any comments and consider revising your book. And someday when you sell your first book, all this work will be worth the effort.
