It could be 28 minutes from now or 280 years from now. When the superpowers square off against each other in two camps, then come back and we'll talk apacolypse.
Until then, just think regional conflicts, wars between rump states, proxy wars and brinksmanship. If you recall the Yom Kippur War in 1973, a coalition of Arab States (Egypt, Syria and Jordan) were soundly defeated by the Israelis. That was a worse situation than the current conflict and it didn't raise a blip on the world war radar (not that it didn't have the potential to spark a global war).
The next World War will involve a nuclear exchange, how could it not. In the first 30 minutes, nearly a billion people will have been vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion will die shortly thereafter from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.
Eventually the nuclear winter will spread to the southern hemisphere and all plant life will die. You ask when is the apacolypse, you are asking when will we commit global suicide. My answer is it won't happen soon because the larger superpowers are more rational than the rump states in the middle east.
Our biggest risk is an accidental launch of nukes by one of the nuclear powers.

The beginning of the end of the world will happen when millions of people disapeer from Earth, leaving behind everything, including the clothes they were wearing at the time. This event is called the Rapture, where Jesus Christ returns to Earth to bring His people with him to Heaven. After this comes a seven year period called the Tribulation, in which the people left behind at the Rapture can become believers in Jesus, but still the world will be faced with many Judgements, such as demonic locusts, a worldwide earthquake, and an army of demon horsemen who will spew poisonous gases. The sun and stars also won't be as bright, and millions will be fooled by the Antichrist- leader of a new world order that will come to pass after the Rapture. A mark will be required of all his followers, but those who refuse to take it will be beheaded...even though, those who do take the mark will not be pardoned and will spend an enternity in Hell. Only through salvation in Christ can this be avoided- if you're not already saved waste no time! The Rapture could happen tommorrow! Yes, I know I sound like a kooky religious zealot, but I'm not. This is the truth, not a theory. If you have any questions, email me. MarinJayde@aol.com.
(Or read Left Behind, a novel by Tim LaHaye, and the start of a great series.)

I think that we won't know until one or the other actually happens. However, evidence supports the theory that if everything came into existence through the Big Bang, then it's logical to assume that there will be an end. However, it's just a theory; until there's a "Big Crunch" or whatever they're calling it nowadays, we won't really know.
However, there's a theory that the universe recreates itself each and every instant. If the theory is correct, there may not be an end, because there are an infinite number of beginnings and endings every time we take even a fraction of breath. But the jury's still out on that one...

While you may hear many theories about how horrible humans are destroying our environment (and I'm not saying we're not) you should keep in mind that dear old mother nature does more damage to our ozone in ONE volcanic blast than humans have done in the ENTIRETY of our existence.
Having said that, everything that has a beginning must have an end. Whether you believe in some sort of higher power or not, everything will eventually end. It may end in such a way that it merely makes room for something new to take it's place, or it might come to an end in a fiery explosion of our sun. Because there is a beginning, there is very definitely an end.

It will end. Eventually the sun will go red giant, and the worlds average temperature will rise to the point at which steel vapourises. That's coming no matter what happens. Of course, we'll have screwed the planet so royally by then it'll probably seem like a relief!

In about 4 billion years the sun will be in its death throws and will expand to a red giant and consume the earth.

it will end because humans have already destroyed it by building into wildlife areas and polluting the air.
I think the earth will either go into another ice age or all the volcanic hot spots of the earth will erupt
