Is a blood pregnancy test different from a normal routine blood test. Like, let's say I went in to get my blood drawn for no particular reason, just to see if I was healthy. If I were pregnant, would that show up along with the other results {as far as sugar diabetes, diabetes, anemia, etc} Or would they actually have to specifically look into it?

Thank you. I had no idea.
You see, I went into the ER a month ago, because I was having abdominal pains, etc. I found out my blood work came back normal, which made me think "ok, I'm not pregnant." But, it wasn't specifically a pregnancy blood test. It was the normal test. I tested negative for everything, which was expected and fanatastic. So, I have to basically ask for this test to be done? They don't just do it?

Yes, there was a urine test done, but it might of been too soon to tell. We always have protected sex, but I'm not on birth control myself. I have been really tired lately. I go back to bed about 2 or 3 times a day and I can't fit in to my jeans anymore due to fast weight gain, which isn't normal for me. One more question, do they give you free pregnancy tests at the hospital to take home?

NO THEY WOULD HAVE TO SPECIFICALLY GET THE HGC LEVEL IN YOUR BLOOD WHICH IS A DIFFERENT TUBE USED THEN THE NORMAL CBC (LAVANDER TUBE NORMALLY) AND GLUCOSE TEST (GREY TUBE NORMALLY)
PREGNANCY IS A YELLOWISH COLOR OR TIGER TOP.

Did they also collect urine?? They may have run a test thru your urine, but more than likely not through your blood --it's way more expensive and they would do urine first. However, if you weren't pregnant a month ago, you could be now?! (If you've had unprotected sex since then, etc) Good Luck:)

They have to order an pregnancy test separate (its called an HCG). Normal blood tests do not show that you are pregnant (IE: Blood counts, kidney functions, cholesterol, etc).
