When I type anything in internet explorer url it opens up the website on the mozilla firefox browser. Thus making it impossible to browse through internet explorer. Does anyone here know how to fix that?

firefox wants to be your main browser that opens anything . go to tools and options on firefox and at the bottom of the tab it is already open to hit check now and if it says yes and would you like to change hit yes.

You probably have Mozilla as default browser, and there is a malfunction, so all searches go through Firefox. Try reinstalling both..if that does'nt work, then uninstall the browser you don't want to use.
(Opera is best)
