Hey, I recently got a Z500 Ericsson cellphone for $5. Is there anyway I can access the camera, music player, and video player without having a SIM card? Otherwise it just says "Insert SIM". I, although, don't want to use it for a phone. I'd rather use it for entertainment. I would go as far as flashing the phone's memory if need be since the warranty is long worn out. I would buy a "pay as you go" card with very little credit, but they expire. I don't want to pay for an all new service though. Once again, I don't care about the calling ability. Is there a dummy card that would at least let me get past that annoying message while disabling the phone's ability to make calls?

You have to have a sim card in order to access anything on a GSM phone. You can get a sim card on eBay for a decent price, but make sure you get one for the service the phone was on. For example, if it is a Cingular phone, get a Cingular sim card. You don't have to have service on it to use the camera, music player, or anything else built into the phone.

Buy a used SIM card for $1 on eBay and use it with it. All you need is an inactive SIM card - nothing special.

You can also go to T-Mobile or Cingular and buy a SIM card from them - but they will charge you full boat about $20 to $50 for the card.
