Most likely there is not a driver for that printer on Vista.

Best you can do it contact Dell and ask them if they have a driver that is Vista compatible and where it is to download.

It's one of the biggest snaffus going on right now. Dell ships its new systems with Vista, and did not make sure that the most commonly used Dell printers were Vista compatible. I have never met so many p&**#$ customers since Windows ME replaced 98SE.

You will have to wait until April ?? for a compatible driver. There is no generic for most of these printers.

Almost as bad, is Dells decision to drop parallel ports on most of its new motherboards. This further alienates all those with LPT printers. Oh... and try to get a third party PCI parallel card that is Vista compatible...... It goes on and on.

Dell "claims" that their release of updated drivers in April will fix this problem. I have the same issue and due to other issues am really beginning to like Vista and the lack of supported drivers for it at this time.
