I assume that you are running win98, winxp or win2k
Deleting files is probably the number one nono for folks not understanding what's important to their computer.
Do This:
Restart press f8 as the computer completes POST, choose Safe Mode
Right Click My computer, Properties, Hardware, Device Manager, Check all of the items in the list for Exclamation points and Question Marks. These items need updated/new drivers or delete them. Deleted devices, if they are plug and play devices they will reinstall automatically. Close out until you are back at the Desktop.
Restart
Hopefully it will start up normally. If not
Plug your op system cd
Restart
Boot to the CDROM
Choose the Repair option and let her rip.
This should get you back up, but every patch (update) in the world is waiting for you at windows update.

Good Luck

when computers turn off itself it may not be just a virus, could be a hardware malfunction or a system file deleted so you may star by checking all the hardware on the PC or check for a missing file, main thing to check is the processor ,memory rams, and then the system files.

What virus scanner did you use? Is it updated?

You probably have a serious system error. If you're running windows, boot from cd, and repair windows. That will repair all important damadged system files.

You should be right then:)
